Grade Schoolers Celebrate National Bible Week with Fun and Faith-Filled Activities

“For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

Last January, the Grade School Department celebrated National Bible Week with the theme God’s Word: Source of Hope. The event featured various activities prepared by the CLE-GMRC Department to invite the community to celebrate the Bible Week with joy, appreciation and sharing of hope through words of God.

Activities and Contests:

1. Tree of Hope

This was a section-wide contest for students in Grades 4 to 6. Each section decorated a tree to illustrate how God’s Word nurtures the growth of hope in their lives. Additional decorations enhanced the overall presentation. The section with the most creative and meaningful design that aligned with the theme won the contest.

2. Altar Making Contest

This was also a section-wide contest similar to the Tree of Hope activity. During the BEC-REAP sharing period, students and their advisers rearranged and decorated the classroom altar with religious items they had brought to keep the prayerful and Christian ambience of the celebration. The section with the most well-arranged and meaningful altar was declared the winner.

3. Bible Quiz Bee

Unlike traditional quiz bees, every student participated in this contest. During CLE-GMRC  class, students answered a quiz covering the books, people, events, and places mentioned in the Bible to develop critical thinking by engaging with the meaning and application of Bible stories and teachings. The highest scorer from each class advanced to the final round, where they competed against other top scorers. The winner received a medal and certificate.

4. Be A Bible Ambassador

As part of the Bible Week Celebration, with the theme "God's Word: Source of Hope," the CLE-GMRC teachers organized a heartwarming activity titled "Be a Bible Ambassador." The initiative aimed to raise funds by selling religious items to purchase 10 Bible storybooks for children battling cancer at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH). On February 1, 2025, the Bible storybooks were donated to the beneficiaries and received by Fr. Eli Lumbo, SJ..

The Bible Week Celebration culminated in a meaningful general assembly, reinforcing the values of faith, hope, and spiritual growth. Throughout the week-long event, students engaged in various activities that deepened their understanding of biblical teachings and their relevance in daily life. The celebration fostered a sense of unity and reflection, leaving participants with a renewed appreciation for their faith and the guiding power of hope in overcoming life’s challenges.
