SciTechLive Day at Manresa School: A Day of Innovation and Discovery
On November 6, 2024, Manresa School held SciTechLive Day, an exciting event that celebrated science, technology, livelihood, and Filipino innovation. The teachers from the JHS Science, Computer, and THE/TLE departments organized the event to inspire us to think critically, creatively, and sustainably. SciTechLive Day highlighted how Filipinos have contributed to science and technology, encouraging us to consider ways to make the world a better place.
The day began with an interactive Science Exhibit from Wandering Minds. The exhibit was hands-on, allowing us to engage with various innovations. It was fascinating to see how science and technology can address real-world challenges. Next, we participated in the Miniature Activity, where we collaborated in groups to build a miniature house and isometric prototype using only the provided materials. It was enjoyable to see how each group produced unique designs, teaching us the importance of planning and teamwork.

Following that, there was an awarding and film showing, where the computer teachers presented awards to students who excelled in various computer competitions, and we watched the best digital projects created. It was inspiring to witness the creativity and talent of the students, making me realize the immense potential technology holds.
The excitement continued with the Science Quest, a series of science-based mini-games that tested our knowledge. It was entertaining and encouraged us to think quickly and work together as a team. The team with the highest score at the end won, which further motivated everyone to participate. The final part of the day took place in the auditorium, featuring three enjoyable activities. First, we had the Letter Quest, a quiz bee with a twist, where we answered questions about science, THE, TLE, and Filipino inventions. Next was Kalookalike, where students dressed up as notable Filipinos who significantly contributed to science and technology. They shared information about these icons, enhancing our understanding of their achievements. Finally, the day concluded with the awarding of overall winners, celebrating everyone’s creativity, teamwork, and knowledge. SciTechLive Day was one of the best experiences I’ve had at school. It was not only fun but also highly educational. It made me appreciate the impact of science and technology on our lives. My favorite part was the Kalookalike competition because it provided a creative way to learn about famous Filipinos who have shaped the world through their contributions. I never realized how many brilliant minds in the Philippines are working to solve problems and improve our lives.
Overall, SciTechLive Day was an inspiring event that underscored the significance of science, technology, and sustainability. It encouraged me to think about how I can use my skills and knowledge to help create a better future. I’m looking forward to more events like this and can’t wait to see how it continues to inspire us to explore science and technology.
